This was the opening exhibition scrimmage for the NBA players vying for spots on the USA basketball team that will play in the FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain at the end of August. But the game was marred by a gruesome injury to Indiana Pacers guard Paul George, who broke his leg while contesting a shot:

There’s some speculation that the basket stanchions in Las Vegas were closer to the court what NBA players are used to:
The injury was a big blow for USA basketball, which was going to rely on George’s play on both ends.
And a bigger blow to the Indiana Pacers, who are likely to be without their top player for the entire 2014-15 season.
