Criminals who go to court in Brevard County in Florida might want to think twice about giving lip service to Judge John Murphy.
Judge Murphy was hearing a case in court on Monday when he got frustrated with the responses from Andrew Weinstock, a public defender. At one point during the back and forth, according to Florida Today: this exchange occurred:
Judge Murphy: “You know if I had a rock I would throw it at you right now,”
Weinstock: “You know what? I’m the public defender, I have a right to be here.”
Judge Murphy: “I said sit down. If you want to fight let’s go out back and I’ll just beat your ass.”
Weinstock: “Let’s go out back.”
So the two stepped outside. One man came back to the courtroom, and the other didn’t. You can see and hear the exchange here:

Another public defender told Florida Today that Judge Murphy punched Weinstock in the head while the two were in the hall.
Judge Murphy was absent from court today. He has been ordered to attend anger management classes.
