Fans in Brazil and other countries in South America are really passionate about their soccer. But what happened today went a bit too far.
A match between soccer clubs Atletico Paranaense and Vasco da Gama, which was played at a neutral site in the biggest city in the Santa Catarina State—Joinville—was interrupted by a violent fight in the stands between fans of both teams. There’s a report that one person died.
The ugly, vicious fight comes just days after draws were announced for the World Cup, which will be played in various locations of Brazil in June 2014.
