So that event touting Nik Wallenda’s walk across the Grand Canyon on Sunday. It appears the walk was actually across the Little Colorado River Gorge, about an hours drive from Grand Canyon National Park (the National Park Service told Forbes.com they would not have allowed the walk).
A little misleading advertising? You bet. But even with some of the social media criticism about the walks location, it takes guts to hop on a two inch wide wire and walk a quarter mile—without a safety harness—across a canyon that’s slightly deeper than the Empire State Building.
The Discovery Channel aired the walk with a 10-second delay…just in case. Nearly 11 millions viewers watched Wallenda’s walk, making it the Discovery Channel’s highest rated live event.
Wallenda’s next mission: he says he’d like to walk a tightrope between two skyscrapers in New York City.
