The 113-77 win by the Spurs—great game. Danny Green and Gary Neal combine for 51 points, Lebron James has his lowest point game of this year’s playoffs (15), and all of a sudden that Spurs bandwagon has fans hanging off the side partying like its 1999 (the year San Antonio won its first NBA title).
But can we stop the premature ejockulation! What three games have proved…absolutely nothing! Remember the Spurs being up 2-0 in last year’s conference finals against OKC? Remember the Celtics thinking about ring sizes after taking a 3-2 series lead on the Heat in last year’s conference finals? Remember how both of those series wound up?
Judging this series after three games is like President Grover Cleveland saying back in 1905 that “Sensible and responsible women do not want to vote.”
Spurs beat Heat? Series over?
My advice: Just enjoy the series, and let it play out.
